Calorie Calculator to Lose Weight
How the Calorie Calculator Works
The following calculator will help you calculate the amount of calories to eat in order to lose weight safely i.e. 1-2 lbs/week. Please use the calculator as a guide only.
To use the calculator you simply enter your:
- Gender
- Age
- Height
- Weight
- Goal Weight
- Activity level (select from the drop down menu)
- And then use the slider to enter how many lbs you want to lose per week.
For example if you are a 44 year old male, 5'7" tall, weight 170lbs, a Goal weight of 162lbs i.e. an 8lb weight loss, and does moderate activity then the daily calorie intake will be:
- 1,580 Calories (assuming a 2lb weight loss per week or 8lbs per month)
- 2,048 Calories (assuming 1 1lb weight loss per week or 4lbs per month)
NOTE: For any fat loss program you should be aware that there is a recommended 'minimum' calorie intake. For example the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that your calorie levels never drop below:
- 1,200 calories per day for women
- 1,800 calories per day for men.
